ABOUT US

The Bengal Association, T Nagar, Chennai is a social and cultural organization established way back in 1929 to showcase Bengali culture to Chennaities and to play a pivotal role in social activities in Chennai.

The Bengal Association takes part in various community services for local people like Blood Donation camp, Free Health check up camp by the doctor-members of our association, in collaboration with other renowned medical institutions of Chennai.

The Bengal Association provides financial as well as material support to various local Orphanages. It also donates every year lump sum amount to the organizations involved in charitable work mainly for the poor and down-trodden strata of society and the charitable hospitals involved in health care for poor people like Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Ramakrishna Mission, Sankara Netralaya, Ramachandra Medical college & Hospital, to name a few.

The Association runs a guest house named Kshana Neer with canteen facility named Ahaar mainly to cater authentic Bengali food at very nominal cost to people coming to Chennai from various parts of the country for medical treatment, education etc.

The Bengal Association celebrates various religious occasions like the Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja wherein Mahabhog (Free lunch & dinner) is organized in our Association for about 10000 people.

The Bengal Association has been running a school by the name Kalyani Kumarmangalam Nursery & Primary School to provide quality education to the economically weaker sections in the local area. It is purely English medium school from pre KG to 5th STD and follows Matriculation Board syllabus prescribed by the Govt of Tamil Nadu. Special efforts are taken to improve linguistic skills in Tamil, English and Hindi. The School has been affiliated to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme of Central Government. Our students are mostly from the underprivileged section of the society. We tirelessly strive to spread the benefits of education to all those who are deprived of the same.
